着物の生地となる絹（シルク）。
今、世界のシルク産業はサテンやツイルのような
無地の生地にプリントや染めで
模様を施すものが主流です。
日本は着物という唯一無二の文化の賜物で、
織り柄のある絹の技術が発達しています。
それは、シルクジャガードと呼ばれ、
世界的にも高度な技術として知られています。
しかし、日本が世界に稀に見る
シルクジャガード大国であることは
あまり認知されていません。
その理由の一端として、
着物をつくることを目的とした生地であるため、
約40cm幅の織機が主流であること。
洋装で使われる生地幅の多くは112cm、
広いもので150cmの生地も多く使用されます。
そのため、日本の生地は今まで
世界的に注目されずにきました。

dominated by the use of printing and dyeing to
add patterns to plain fabrics such as satin and twill.
Japan has developed its own kimono culture by
developing a technique for weaving patterns on silk.
This is called silk Jacquard and is known worldwide
as an advanced technique.
However, it is not well known that Japan is a major
silk Jacquard country.
One of the reasons is Because it is used for kimonos,
the width of the loom is about 40 cm,
whereas the fabric used for clothes is
often 112 cm wide, and some of the wider ones are
150 cm wide.For this reason, Japanese fabrics have not
attracted much attention from the world until now.

しかし、その織機では世界基準の
112cm幅の生地は織れません。
そこで create ebara は、
10,000本の針が使用可能な織機を導入。
今まで培った技術を活かしながら、
世界基準の幅の生地を織ることを可能にしました。
それは、単純に生地の幅が広がるという
ことにとどまりません。
今までの繊細な織り柄を、
より大きな生地に描けるということです。
この改革は、丹後の生地の魅力を
よりスケールアップすることにつながります。
日本の着物の魅力を、
職人の高度な技術を、
丹後という街を、
世界へ発信する。

world through the city of Tango.
