Reweaving the DNA of kimono
into everyday life.
create ebara is a brand that reweaves silk-weaving techniques refined for kimono into contemporary life. At its origin is one innovation: moving beyond the 38-centimeter width of kimono fabric to weave silk jacquard at the global standard of 112 centimeters. That is where our making began.
More than seventy years of accumulated knowledge, beginning with the design of jacquard punch cards known as monshi. Weaving structures that draw out Tango's distinctive beauty of white. And silk, considered beyond the frame of kimono, as a material for living.
We carefully recompose these layers to create a life where silk belongs naturally, from a single T-shirt to scarves and interiors.

Why create ebara,
and why now?
Japan's silk culture evolved within the world of kimono. Yet as kimono receded from everyday life, the skills passed down with it began to lose their place.
We are not rejecting kimono. We want to bring the skills refined for kimono back into contemporary life in another form. That is why we launched create ebara in 2022.
This is our challenge: to find a new role for traditional craft.

In Tango, Ebara Sangyo has continued to carry silk jacquard weaving forward. Hidenori Ebara, who leads the company today, had long lived with one question.
How can the techniques refined for kimono stand beside the way people will live in the years ahead?
A respect for inherited craft, and a clear gaze toward people living now. The decision of a leader holding both became the brand create ebara in 2022.
create ebara is a challenge born from one person's conviction. It is also the next-era story woven from the skill of the artisans who keep weaving alive in Tango, and Ebara Sangyo's enduring devotion to this land.
